1. Is it true your Pasteurisers process in accordance with the current NHS National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE ) Guidelines?
YES, Our Pasteuriser is compliant with the NICE guidelines, processing the milk at 62.5 deg C for 30 mins, cooling the milk through the critical range is accomplished through cold water cooling. Refrigerant is not used in our Pasteuriser making our machine safer and more energy efficient. At the end of the cycle the milk is transferred to a fridge, bringing the final temperature to 4 deg C or lower prior to freezing. This procedure is in line with the NICE guidelines.

2. Does your machine have refrigerated rapid cooling?
NO, The banning of safe Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) and its replacement by more toxic types of refrigerant (ISOBUTANE) has made ACE Intermed determined not to use refrigeration in the cooling part of its process. 3. Does your machine submerge the bottles?
NO, the submerging of the bottle cap has no demonstrated benefit and increases the possibility of contamination into the milk. According to guidelines published jointly by Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and United Kingdom Association for Milk Banking bottles should not be submerged.

4. Does your bottles have a heat sealed foil cap?
No, we use a bottle with a plastic to plastic precision seal.

5. Does your bottle have a tamper evident cap?
Yes, the cap is coloured white when we supply it and we can provide coloured caps with tamper evident seals to indicate different stages in the collection, pasteurising and storage parts of the milk cycle.

6. Are your bottles pre sterilised?
Yes, all our bottles with white caps and tamper evident seals are sterilised in the box. Each box has a marker on the side that changes colour when the sterilising process is completed. Our coloured caps with tamper evident seals are also sterilised using the same process.

7. What is the capacity of your machine?
The maximum capacity of our HMP 2000 – 20 is 4 litres.
The maximum capacity of our HMP 2000 – 40 is 8 litres.

8. How long does your machine take to process a batch of milk?
The total time taken by the machine to process a batch of milk is approximately 80 minutes.

9. Can the pasteurising temperature be adjusted to my requirements?
Yes, the temperature is adjustable within limits (57 deg C to 70 deg C in 0.5 deg C increments).

10. Is your machine adjustable for different size bottles?
Yes, the machine has three bottle settings, they are preset for our 200ml, 100ml and 50ml bottles.

11. Is the machine fully automatic?
Yes, the process has only three interventions. Start – Load Bottles – Remove Bottles.

12. Can I use the 100ml and the 200ml in the same batch?
No, not in the same batch.

13. Does your machine have a printed record of each processed batch?
Yes, a paper printout records the serial number of the machine, the batch number, date of process, and the pasteurising setpoint parameters of time and temperature, followed by the actual temperature at each minuet of the pasteurising process.

14. Does your machine have a process monitoring system built in?
Yes, in the unlikely event of a failure of an element of the process an alarm will sound and a massage is sent to the display to indicate where the problem is.

15. Does your machine measure the actual milk temperature?
No, we have profiled the thermal properties of the bottles we supply and the process parameters that determine the milk temperature, there is no need risk contamination by actually measuring the milk temperature.

16. How big is your Machine?
HMP2000 compact: 500 x 525 x 500mm, HMP2000-40HC: 500 x 620 x 540mm.

17. At what temperature should I set my pasteuriser?
The recommended range of temperatures for the heat treatment of human milk is from 57 deg C to 62.5 deg C. The actual temperature used will depend on local requirements. It is generally accepted that a temperature of 57 deg C for 30 minutes will deactivate HIV, and 62.5 deg C for 30 minutes will deactivate TB. It should also be noted, as the heat treatment temperature is raised more of the good properties of the milk will be destroyed.

18. Does your machine need sterilising?
The pasteuriser will not normally require sterilising, however as a precaution, after long periods of non-use it is recommended that the inbuilt automatic sterilising cycle be used.

19. What is the final milk temperature at the end of the cycle?
The final temperature of the milk will be approximately 1 deg C above your tap water temperature.
